This experiment showed how easy it was to get someone to agree with something they knew was wrong, simply because the right answer went against the grain of the group. It also showed that all it took was one person disagreeing with what the rest of the group to break that dynamic of conformity. It is why saying what you know to be true, and to point out the falsehoods is so very powerful. A fictional version of this is The Emperor’s New Clothes. It took an unhindered child to point out what everyone knew, but was too afraid to point out, that the emperor was naked.
